Quick introduction, my name is Lauren, I live in Burlington County, NJ and I founded Superstar Shrimp Co. because, simply put, I love aquarium shrimp. Sulawesi shrimp in particular are very hard to find locally and being someone who has found success with keeping them for almost a year now in a tiny 3 gallon cube, I feel it is my duty to let this shrimp empire spread all across Southern NJ and beyond. A not so fun- fact, and contributing factor pushing me to do this, is that most species of Sulawesi shrimp are considered critically endangered or extinct in the wild. There are conservation efforts in the works, however, one day the shrimps in captivity might be the only ones left. :(
I don't want to stop there however. I also love aquariums and fish in general. I have a 75 gallon heavily planted community tank that I am lucky enough to be able to watch every night as I fall asleep. I started keeping fish over 5 years ago during one of the darkest periods of my life and it continues to be one of the most important ways I stay sane in this crazy world. So along with breeding Sulawesi shrimp, I potentially want to help others achieve their fresh- water tank goals by helping facilitate the creation, maintenance, or even complete makeover of aquariums.
My main goal is to spread the "Shrimpy goodness". It is my firm belief that we could all benefit from having more shrimps in our lives and to work towards embodying their impeccable vibes. Within the chaotic times we live in today, being able to come home, watch my skrimps go about their shrimpy business, and subsequently get transported into their little slice of paradise is priceless. I swear I can sit in front of their tank for hours watching them picking at biofilm with their little grabbers. I am captivated. They are superstars.
I am currently cycling a 10 gallon tank for future generations of Sulawesi's to be born. Once a population becomes established, I will offer some for sale.
On a different note, I have been told bringing "politics" into my business makes me look immature and unprofessional. That I'll loose potential customers. *Literally trembling in fear, shaking in my boots*
Make no mistake, I am 100% okay loosing customers who find issue with me using my own business to advocate for causes I care about. I will not compromise on my core morals and values for the sake of sales. If you support Dictator Agent Orange or any of the economically ruinous, environmentally regressive, socially divisive, ethically bankrupt, historically ignorant, diplomatically catastrophic, fiscally irresponsible, scientifically illiterate, culturally destructive, legally dubious, morally corrosive, administratively chaotic, procedurally opaque, and strategically shortsighted policies or the consolidating of unchecked power through propaganda, censorship, and intimidation, do me a huge favor and leave this webpage now.
